NATIVE AMERICAN FLUTES FOR SALE
I usually have a few pre-owned flutes for sale. I buy flutes from other players, recording artists, collectors, and estates. All flutes shown are in stock and available. When one sells (or is reserved with a deposit), I remove it. All prices shown are for customers within the continental US, and plus shipping.

Maker: Hawk Littlejohn (1941 - 2000)
Tribe: Cherokee
Key: Around F#
Primary Material: Cedar
Price: $550 plus shipping
Notes: Very early NAF by Hawk Littlejohn. I showed it to Geri Littlejohn, who said of it "that's a relic!". She said Hawk used brass spacers in the early days, but rarely thereafter. This old flute sounds nice. It has a great tone and is tuned well with itself. It's approximately F#.

Maker: Hawk Littlejohn (1941 - 2000)
Tribe: Cherokee
Key: E (but I need to verify)
Features: Side-blown
Price: $800 plus shipping
Notes: This flute was gifted by Hawk Littlejohn to Sam Rizetta. Sam was an accomplished dulcimer maker and musician. In 1992 Hawk and Geri Littlejohn met Sam at an arts fair. Geri told me this was the first fair she had accompanied Hawk to. At that meeting, Sam gave Hawk some printouts on tuning, and a tuner. This story was told to me by Sam's widow, and confirmed by Geri. Geri remembers Sam visiting their home at around that time, and doing flute stuff with Hawk. This particular flute was retuned, but I do not know if it was by Hawk, Sam or the pair. In any case, it is a significant flute in Hawk's flute-making history, and a testament to the relationship between Sam and Hawk.

Maker: Michael Graham Allen
Brand: Coyote Oldman
Key: D
Special: Left-Handed
Primary Material: Juniper
Price: $750 plus shipping
Notes: Left-hand-down, low D Coyote Oldman flute by Michael Graham Allen. This fabulous MGA flute has a brass spacer and a stunning pony block. Great tone. This D plays above the octave which is a nice accomplishment for a lower flute.

Maker: Michael Graham Allen
Brand: Coyote Oldman
Key: A
Features: Otter Block and Bird Head
Primary Material: Juniper
Price: $650 plus shipping
Notes: Lakota style flute with bird head end, and the Otter Block.

Maker: Colyn Petersen
Brand: Woodland Voices
Key: F# 432Hz
Primary Material: Alaskan Cedar
Price: $400 plus shipping
Notes: F# 432 by Colyn Petersen. The flute is made of pale Alaskan cedar, with a pyrography Thunderbird design at the foot. It is well tuned and has a great voice. Not a good choice for playng with backing tracks, as they are typically not in 432. But as a solo instrument, or when playing with others and their 432 flutes, it can't be beat.

Maker: Theodore Ceplina
Model: Ho-Chunk Replica
Price: $400 plus shipping
Notes: Theodore Ceplina is best known for his replicas of Native American flutes. This is a replica of a Ho-Chunk (or Winnebego) flute. It is NOT tuned to Pentagonic Minor as are most modern flutes. It has a metal spacer and 3 wire wraps.

Maker: Brent Haines
Model: Woodsounds
Key: F#
Primary Material: Ironwood
Price: $1,000 plus shipping
Notes: A stunning Ironwood F# by Brent Haines. This flute has fabulous colors and LOTS of turquoise - turquoise rings and large patches on inlay on the bottom. You just have to ask me for more pictures of it to fully appreciate it.

Maker: Brent Haines
Brand: Woodsounds
Key: A
Primary Material: Lacewood
Price: $250 plus shipping
Notes: Very early Lacewood A by Brent Haines. It's marked A, but my tuner says it's more of an Ab. Brent's makers mark is hand-written on this flute. It has a lovely tone, somewhat more earthy than most of his modern flutes.

Maker: Paul Thompson (1949-2021)
Tribe: Navajo
Key: D
Primary Material: Cedar
Price: $400 plus shipping
Notes: Mallard head flute by Paul Thompson. This is another flute that I acquired from Gary Stroutsos. It is a large D flute with a very nice tone and tuning. I used this flute to record the song Mallard's Lullaby for my album Woodland Spirit, Prairie Heart.

Maker: Paul Thompson (1949-2021)
Tribe: Navajo
Key: F
Primary Material: Bamboo
Price: $175 plus shipping
Notes: This flute is unsigned, but undeniably a Paul Thompson, and very typical for his bamboo or river cane flutes. I acquired this flute from Gary Stroutsos, who was Paul's friend and favored Paul's flutes. Paul passed away in 2021.

Maker: Guillermo Martinez
Brand: Quetzalcoatl Music
Model: Southern Flute
Key: A
Primary Material: Lignum Vitae
Price: $175 plus shipping
Notes: Lignum Vitae is a very dense wood, making this flute nearly dent-proof. It was made in 2015 and is in like-new condition

Maker: Guillermo Martinez
Brand: Quetzalcoatl Music
Model: Northern Plains
Key: G
Primary Material: Yellow Cedar
Price: $200 plus shipping
Notes: Typical lovely tone that Guillermo Martinez flutes are known for.

Maker: Guillermo Martinez
Brand: Quetzalcoatl Music
Model: Northern Plains
Key: F 432 Hz
Primary Material: Walnut (I think)
Price: $250 plus shipping
Notes: F minor 432. Has a great, mellow tone. Very nice. Walnut with a maple block.

Maker: Scott Loomis
Brand: Wind's Song
Key: G
Primary Material: Cedar
Price: $150 plus shipping
Notes: 1995 Cedar G by Scott Loomis. Loomis flutes are simply beautiful - beautifully simple. They have been used by many recoding artists on their albums and in soundtracks. This one has a hand signed makers-mark, but it is very faint - required a magnafying glass to read.

Maker: Utah Farris (1935 - 2024)
Brand: Flight Feather Flutes
Key: F#
Primary Material: Cedar
Price: $250 plus shipping
Notes: A stunning example of Utah Farris' carving and pyrography. This 5-hole F# is a special piece, with a great tone and timbre. Utah died in 2024.

Maker: Unknown
Style: Lakota
Key: A
Primary Material: ??
Price: $150 plus shipping
Notes: This is a sweet little flute. Maker and age unknown. I do not suspect it to be 'old'. It's tuned to Pentatonic Minor A. It has a nice turquoise/greenish paint in the low spots. It has a tall chimney, but it doesn't warble (at least not for me.)

Maker: Ron Stutz
Brand: Native Sunrise Flutes
Key: G
Features: Charred Natural End
Price: $225 plus shipping
Notes: Sweet G flute by Ron Stutz. Features a rustic texture and a burnt natural end. The block is in the form of a resin antler. Has a ceramic wet-out protection in the flue.

Maker: Jon Norris
Model: Transverse - Akebono
Key: B
Primary Material: Maple
Price: $200 plus shipping
Notes: This photo doesn't do justice to the beauty of this flute. The tiger maple has a wonderful stripe effect, and there is an engraved silver medalian as an end cap. I do not know if it is actually silver or just a silvery. This flute has 4 finger holes on the top and a thumb hole on back. This a flute for someone with long arms. (I'm 5'8" and struggle with it.)

Maker: Nash Tevewa
Brand: Flutes by Nash
Model: Mayan Temple Flute
Key: A
Primary Material: ???
Price: $200 plus shipping
Notes: Drone flute in A minor, by Nash Tevewa. I do not know what type of wood this is. The grain reminds me of palm, but I do not know. Nash calls this type of flute the "Mayan Temple Flute". It's a drone flute, with an A minor flute on one side, and an A drone note on the other. It has 2 breath holes, one for each bore. While playing, the player chooses to play either the melody side, or both sides at the same time.

Maker: Butch Hall
Model: Rainmaker
Key: Bb
Primary Material: Cherry (I think)
Price: $150 plus shipping
Notes: This is Butch Hall's version of the Broken Flute Cave flute. It is a 27" rim-blown flute. These are somewhat difficult to learn for beginners. The Rainmaker is probably even more difficult due to its continuous edge/rim. It does not have a notch or flattened spot, which many modern rim-blown flutes do.

Maker: Max Skabelund
Brand: Mad Max
Key: F#
Primary Material: ???
Price: $150 plus shipping
Notes: This flute plays beautifully. It is in excellent shape but has a couple of cosmetics blemishes, and the price reflects that. You can see in the picture how the block has a couple staines under the clear finish. There are a couple other small spots where the wood has a pale spot, also under the finish. I'll send detailed pics to those who are interested. I do not know what type of wood this is made of.
